2023 Competition Update
The JDC West competition will be officially hosted by the University of Saskatchewan! We are so excited to see everyone in person in January 🙂
One of the main goals of JDC West is to produce well-rounded and community-minded individuals. A large component of the JDC West competition is participating in local charitable work, including both fundraising and volunteering. Each year, UNBC JDC West is allowed to associate themselves with up to six prominent charitable organizations in the local community. Recently, the team has done a large amount of volunteering and fundraising for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society, but organizations in the past have included the United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Native Friendship Centre.
JDC West partakes in a number of events throughout the year to raise awareness and money for these organizations. Our annual event, Chillin’ 4 Charity takes place in November of each year. Our entire team, plus coaches, UNBC faculty and administration, and community members take the plunge into an ice cold pool of water. Please stay tuned for more information regarding specific details on this year’s event. If you have any questions or would like to be involved, please contact our Captains at captains@unbcjdcwest.com.
