What is JDC West?!
JDC West is the largest undergraduate business competition in Western Canada. The three day event is held in January of each year and showcases academic competitions, athletic challenges, a social component, and a charity initiative. Over 550 students from 11 of Western Canada’s top universities compete in this competition which is organized by students from the host university. The University of Alberta hosted JDC West 2012 and the 2013 competition is being hosted by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Although only one of the eleven university teams can be crowned the ‘School of the Year,’ everyone involved in the JDC West competition emerges a winner. Students are given the chance to apply their knowledge in real world business situations, all the while developing networking, critical thinking, and leadership skills. Coaches, judges, alumni, corporate partners and countless volunteers are given the opportunity to give back to their respective universities, programs, and shape the minds of Western Canada’s best and brightest business students.
