the ACADEMIC teams
There are ten academic teams composed of three students each, with each team focusing on a different discipline. These disciplines are Accounting, Business Strategy, Business Technology, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing, Not for Profit, and Operations Management. The teams have three hours to solve a business case and form a presentation without any outside resources, twenty minutes to give their presentation, and five minutes to answer any questions the judges have. |

THE ATHLETIC TEAM
The athletic team trains and participates in scrimmage games throughout the year in two unconventional sports. This year, the sports include D-Hoops, a game that combines elements of both basketball and ultimate disc; and Tchoukball, a non-contact, indoor team sport in which two teams of seven players compete for points by rebounding a ball off the frame. Aside from competing against the other school’s at the primary JDC West competition, the UNBC JDC West Athletic team also competes in the BC based Coast Games competition against JDC West school’s within the province

THE CHALLENGE TEAM
The goal of the Challenge team is to be an accessible format for all business students to apply the knowledge they’ve gained through their academic and extra curricular pursuits, and continue to be the backbone of their team’s culture. Challengers will be tested on their ability to communicate, think critically and quickly, work as a team and of course their ability to complete both applied and culture challenges. Challenges will be created to reflect both business and culture based situations.

THE EXECUTIVE TEAM
Our executive team works throughout the year to plan out elements of the program, create team events, mock competitions, engage with the community through charitable giving and service, and seek sponsorships to help us run our program. The executive team is the backbone of the UNBC JDC West program and we could not accomplish our goals without the countless hours that they contribute to planning and organizing throughout the year.

THE FACULTY ADVISOR
Natascha Lukawitski has been a proud supporter and advocate of the UNBC JDC West business program since her time at UNBC. Natascha takes great pride in assisting the program and the executive team by further developing the program’s relationship with the UNBC School of Business, and other University entities. She also takes a key role by developing helpful teaching seminars throughout the year that help build confidence in our academic teams, teaches them essential case study solving techniques, and also introduces them to current business issues. Along with this, Natascha also serves as a coach for our Accounting team and often sets her time aside to judge at our mock competitions. We truly couldn’t accomplish our goals without the support of faculty like Natascha Lukawitski.
